The Detroit Tigers snapped a five-game losing streak with a 6-3 victory over Kansas City on Sunday and hope to build on that momentum when they visit New York to begin a three-game series against the Mets on Tuesday.
Gage Workman hit his first major league home run—a go-ahead two-run shot—shortly after being recalled from Triple-A Toledo earlier in the day. His call-up was prompted by Kerry Carpenter landing on Detroit’s already overcrowded injured list with a shoulder sprain.
