UFC President Dana White addressed the heated exchange between undefeated American heavyweight Josh Hokit and UFC lightweight champion Ilia Topuria during the press conference for UFC White House — Freedom 250.
“I don’t want any of these guys getting injured over some stupid nonsense that means nothing — especially when it’s people who will never fight each other. To be honest, I think the whole Hokit situation is a circus act. But the guy came out and won. An unranked fighter took on the world’s number five and got the victory.
Ilia and Alex Pereira are usually pretty calm guys. Though Ilia can flare up sometimes. We didn’t expect that. They were all sitting next to each other in the same row. Sean O’Malley started leaning back, and I thought: ‘Are you ****ing kidding me?’ Because all I was worried about was the weigh-in and making sure nothing happened between Chimaev and Strickland. But we’ll be ready. That’s our job,” White said, as quoted by MMA Fighting.
