On May 9, the “Chinese Sports Spirit Lecture Hall” campus宣讲 activity and the “Champion Sports Class” athlete campus engagement took place at the Fensiting Primary School in Dongcheng District, Beijing. The event coincided with the school’s Sports Festival and Spring Games. Short track speed skating world champion Li Jiajun attended the scene, conveying the profound essence of the Chinese sports spirit and encouraging students that every drop of sweat from persistent effort can make youthful dreams sparkle.
During the “Chinese Sports Spirit Lecture Hall” segment, Li Jiajun centered his talk on the theme “Striving All the Way, Passing on the Spirit,” sharing his半生热血 story alongside short track speed skating. His passion for skating and unyielding resilience drove him to never stop despite the biting cold wind—this was his earliest understanding of the “tenacious struggle” within the Chinese sports spirit. With this perseverance, Li Jiajun claimed China’s first men’s short track speed skating world championship in the men’s 1000m event at the 1996 World Short Track Speed Skating Championships. At the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics, he won a silver medal in the men’s 1000m, becoming the first Chinese male athlete to earn a Winter Olympic medal.

Combining the concurrent campus games, Li Jiajun conveyed a deeper insight into the “Chinese sports spirit” to the teachers and students: “The power of teamwork is far greater than fighting alone.” During the “Champion Sports Class,” Li Jiajun participated in the “Class Super” competition’s “Fun Shuttle Run” activity. He paired up with students, holding a ball with both hands and coordinating默契ly, experiencing the joy of sports competition and the strength of team collaboration as they ran side by side.
